Flooding and Maintenance of Pennsylvania Streams

The PADEP has recently published information on maintaining streams on your property, including a fact sheet on emergency removal of debris from streams and advice on flood prevention and management. This information is especially useful in light of recent rainfall and flooding events across Berks County during the summer of 2018. If you have a stream that runs through your property, or if you have a bridge, culvert, or similar structure you are looking to conduct repairs or maintenance on, please read through this information prior to conducting work to determine whether any permitting or notifications are needed to the PADEP or Berks County Conservation District. If you are unsure whether your proposed work requires a permit or notification, call the Conservation District at 610-372-4657 or the PADEP South Central Regional Office at 717-705-4700.
